For nearly a half-century, Steven F. Dansky has been a political activist, writer, and photographer. He was a member of Gay Liberation Front (GLF) after the Stonewall Rebellion in 1969.  He was a co-founder of the Effeminist Movement.

He is an award-winning photographer whose work has been exhibited at juried exhibitions in New York and Las Vegas.  In 2010, he had a one-person show, “In Public: Studies from the Street,” Enterprise Library, Las Vegas, NV.  In 2009, he was in a group show, “More Than Meets the Eye,” Brett Wesley Gallery, Las Vegas, NV. 

As a curator, he organized an exhibition of vintage LGBT movement photographs, Gay Liberation Front (1969-1971): A 40th Anniversary Retrospective, LGBT Center, New York, NY., (2009).

Dansky has written essays on photography for the Gay and Lesbian Review.  He is the author of three books, “On Bearing Witness: Images and Reflections of the LGBT Movement (1969-1971),” (Blurb 2010); “Nobody’s Children: Orphans of the HIV Epidemic,” (Haworth 1997); and “Now Dare Everything: Tales of HIV Related Psychotherapy,” (Haworth: 1991).

He studied art at the City University of New York and has a Master’s degree from Hunter College, NY.  He learned Photoshop at the International Center for Photography, NY.  His photographic mentors were Steve Lobel, Exposed School of Photography, Delmar, NY;  Jason James Skinner, Las Vegas Contemporary Dance Theater; and Jon Fishback.    He is a member of the Photographic Society of America (PSA), Nevada Camera Club (NCC), and National Association of Photoshop Professionals (NAPP).
