“We need heroes now more than ever.  It's time we root for the good guys and for them to win for a change,” says artist Mitchell Todd about his new superhero exhibit opening this week at Just J Art inside The Arts Factory in Las Vegas.

Visitors of the gallery will get to see Mitchell’s take on what it means to him to be a superhero.  “On a lot of television shows people root for the bad guys.  They want to be the bad guy. The villain reaps all of the rewards of their ill gotten gains. That was never my case. I don't care how great or fun it is to be a villain, I will finish as a hero.”

Mitchell was born on September 4, 1965, in Columbus, Georgia.  He was an art and superhero lover from the very start, intrigued by the creations of surrealist painter Salvador Dali and the wonder and self-sacrificing nature of superheroes.

Mitchell later joined the Air Force and got stationed in Madrid, Spain.  While there he enjoyed visiting Europe and being able to see the works of the great masters first hand.  Then about 15 years ago Mitchell moved to Las Vegas and began taking classes at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.  Since then, he was won many awards and accolades for his art.

“You don't have to fly, stop a speeding a train or have x-ray vision. If you take the time to take an old person's bag out to a car, that makes you a hero.  If you open the door for the person behind you, that makes you a hero.  If you put someone else's need in front of yours, that makes you a hero just as much as anyone with a "S" on their chest.   The day of the hero is now.”
